This was a really neat event and story behind it. \u00a0James Howard Monroe was a medic in the Vietnam war when a grenade was launched into a fox hole he was in while treating wounded soldiers. \u00a0He then pushed aside the soldiers and smothered the grenade saving the lives of those men in there with him. \u00a0And this was at age 22! \u00a0What would you have honestly done at that age? (Or will do…?)<\/p>\n

To be honest, I’m not so sure I would have been that instinctively brave. \u00a0Wow, it’s incredible to think that you have your whole life ahead of you, but chose to save others instead. \u00a0Talk about selfless and honorable. \u00a0It was great to see how he was respected with this great medal of honor.<\/p>\n

I posted this the day after Memorial day to keep these thoughts going longer than just a day. \u00a0This is a big deal, and I feel some (and I’m included here) people may not be aware of and even appreciate it’s fullest purpose. \u00a0We sometimes forget how easy we have it with all our freedoms to say and do whatever we please with little to no punishment. I just hope that it is never taken for granted, and we all can be on the same level of respect for how we got to where we are today; regardless of color, background, beliefs, or anything else that makes us different from another.<\/p>\n
